Windows 8-10 compatible Serial-USB Converter and download cable for SRM PCV.
When the SRM PCV was developed serial ports were the default download option on all computers. The white PCV download cable is an amalgamation of the PCV download cable and a USB to serial converter. However the chipset built into this unit is not compatible with Windows 8 and 64Bit systems.
With the aim of providing ongoing customer support and forward-compatability for older hardware such as PCV and PCIV’s SRM have sourced a Serial-USB converter cable that is compatible with current computer operating systems including Windows 8.
The kit contains a serial cable to run from your PCV to the converter cable; and the Serial-USB converter plus a driver CD. Automatic download of drivers is also an option.
We recommend installation as follows :
- Pop the CD into the disc drive and run the Installer
- If prompted to repair / remove the driver click REPAIR – this will update older Prolific Serial – USB drivers
- Allow the computer to reboot if required.
- Now fit the converter cable into a spare USB port – without the PCV attatched and allow the driver installation to be completed.
- Fit the PCV to the SRM cable end
- Open the SRM software – and off you go !
